Marita L. Carnes

Marita brings more than 20 years of paralegal experience to Gutwein Law, and in that time, she’s truly seen it all. Before joining the firm, she spent 13 years at a small law firm and one year in the legal department of a large hospital system. Today, she supports attorneys and clients across a wide range of matters, with a particular focus on business law, private equity and venture capital transactions, estate and succession planning, and everything in between. Her depth of knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to navigate complex legal matters make her an invaluable resource to both the firm and its clients.

Ask Marita what she enjoys most about her work, and her answer is simple: helping people. Whether she’s assisting with a business transaction, supporting a succession plan, or helping a client navigate an important life event, she takes pride in making the legal process smoother and more manageable.

Outside of the office, Marita enjoys trying new restaurants, spending time with her husband and two children, and, whenever she gets the chance, hitting the volleyball courts—both indoor and beach.
