Jackie S. Gessner

Jackie Gessner is an employment law attorney with extensive experience representing employers of virtually all sizes. She focuses her practice on employment counseling and litigation, as well as OSHA compliance.

 

Jackie regularly defends employers in federal and state courts and before state and local civil rights agencies, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 

 

Jackie works with human resource departments, business leaders, owners and managers on an array of workplace issues. She regularly advises management and human resources professionals on employee disciplinary matters, leave and wage and hour compliance, retaliation and discrimination complaints, and harassment and workplace investigations, among others. Jackie also counsels employers on complying with rapidly changing employment laws and implementing effective practices to avoid workplace issues, and she has led employee and supervisor trainings.

 

Additionally, Jackie is a skilled litigator who is capable of taking lead responsibility defending employment lawsuits. She frequently conducts and defends depositions, and she has successfully resolved numerous cases and obtained favorable rulings on summary judgment and motions to dismiss on behalf of her clients. She has also obtained appellate decisions affirming favorable judgments for her clients, including before the Indiana Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

 

Prior to attending law school, Jackie interned with the Indiana State Senate; worked as a campaign manager for an Indiana State Senate election campaign; and worked as a registered lobbyist with an Indianapolis public affairs firm, representing clients before the Indiana General Assembly.
