Stuart Gutwein, Business Law Attorney: The intellectual property of your business is really no different than any other aspect of your business. It requires a commitment. It requires a big commitment from the leaders, and if the leaders of the business place a big emphasis on protecting and staying up to date on intellectual property just like any other area of your business, the people are going to follow. Your employee are going to follow; they’re going to place the same emphasis on it that you are.

And so what that means is you need to stay up to date on the law. And you can’t stay up to date on every aspect of your business, so you need to designate somebody. And one of the really good resources that we like is IPWatchdog. There’s a lot of other resources available as well.
