IT Support Technician

Gutwein Law is a growing firm focused on corporate law, real estate, commercial litigation, estate planning and administration, and intellectual property law. We're seeking a full-time IT Support Technician to work from our Lafayette office. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Support:

  • Oversee technology for attorneys, paralegals, and staff in a broad range of locations including the Lafayette, Indianapolis, and Minneapolis offices, as well as co-working spaces, and various remote locations
  • Respond to support request calls and emails (sometimes outside of regular office hours), and provide a variety of software and hardware end-user support, including mobile devices and peripherals

Desktop Support:

  • Assist with hardware and software research, recommendations and purchases, as well as the onboarding of staff in terms of technology
  • Install and fully prepare new computers for deployment consistently
  • Build and update group policy objects in Active Directory
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve hardware, software, security and network problems
  • Coordinate repairs of computers and printers
  • Manage technology-related vendors and consultants
  • Maintain inventories of computers, software licenses, and related supplies
  • Manage firm-wide data backups

Documentation and Communication:

  • Document and maintain routine procedures
  • Produce required technology-related reports  
  • Inform staff of planned and unplanned IT infrastructure changes and events which may impact their productivity

Software Support:

  • Produce and design document assembly/automation within software systems; generate documents by combining document templates with live data (Knowledge in HTML/PHP or programming languages a plus)
  • Collaborate with staff to conceptualize and develop custom work flows within software systems

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, any technology-related discipline, or comparable work experience
  • 2-3 years of experience supporting and administering computers running modern versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system in an Active Directory environment
  • Demonstrated experience resolving desktop productivity software issues, network connection errors, and desktop and network printing problems
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • An ability to multitask in a fast-paced team environment and work independently with minimal supervision
  • A hunger to never stop learning and improving
  • Ability and willingness to travel between the Lafayette and Indianapolis office when necessary
